Spinning Frequently Asked Questions
Q How do I oil / lubricate my spinning wheel?
A In short, drop some oil into the moving bits as best you can. Ashford recommend using candlewax in certain places such as the treadle bearings, but it's obviously difficult to get a candle in there without taking things apart. If you use oil there it will flow between the surfaces and lubricate them.
Ashford make all of their assembly guides available for download on their site:

If your wheel is not an Ashford, or if the guide for your wheel is not here, then just look at the guide for the Traditional - it shows you where to oil a wheel generally (look near the end under 'strange sounds'.)
