Hand Spinning Drop Spindle Starter Kit
A great but reasonably-priced general-purpose drop spindle for hand spinning. The whorl (top-whorl) is nice and chunky and keeps the spindle spinning for a long time. It has a long spindle (12" long), so a good capacity to store your yarn as you spin or ply it.
Contains:
- Ashford student drop spindle with leader attached and a little bit of spun wool
- Soft merino wool ready to tease out and spin, approx 100g altogether (3.5 oz) in Natural White. Enough to spin 200yds, depending on how thick you spin it.
- The Ashford Book of Hand Spinning.
- Copies of The Wheel magazine.

Turkish Spindle
This is a fun way to make a perfect ball of handspun yarn. The crossbars slide away to leave the ball yarn intact. 14" (350mm) long and weighs 1.5 oz (50gm). Comes with instruction leaflet.

Ashford top whorl drop spindles
Well balanced. Strong spring wire hook bent to help keep your yarn from arcing out of the hook. Lacquered finish. Long shaft helps to balance the spindle and allow for "down the thigh" propulsion for high speed spinning.
Ashford produce these spindles in a range of sizes from 50mm diameter/17g/0.5oz (very small) to 90mm/80g/2.75oz (quite large)

A great all-round drop spindle for hand spinning. Perfect for medium and chunky yarns. The whorl (bottom-whorl) is nice and chunky and keeps the spindle spinning.
